New Industrial parks attract investments to Guanajuato

The city of Leon, Guanajuato has at least 20 companies from the automotive and auto parts sectors, into a portfolio of potential investors to settle in the industrial areas that were developed in the last three years. With the construction of new industrial parks, the City of Leon has become an ideal location for the arrival of new investments for the automotive sector.

Bosch opens new plant in the State of Mexico

This Bosch's new plant will manufacture water heaters for domestic use and it is expected to reach a production of 660,000 heaters annual. This production plant will generate 100 jobs by 2016. Bosch arrived to Mexico ten years ago, but this is the first time that the Company inaugurates a plant dedicated to thermo-technology in the Americas. These water heaters allow savings of up to 78% in gas consumption, boosting even more the energy reform in Mexico, by achieving a more efficient consumption by individuals and companies for better environmental protection and greater savings.

Audi Mexico inaugurates new plant in Puebla

Audi Mexico inaugurated its bodywork plant in San Jose Chiapa, Puebla, creating more than 220 employees. The plant has about 600 robots that will produce the SUV Q5 by the second half of 2016. Alfons Dintner, President of Audi Mexico, explained that they use the Safe Range Monitoring system that increases security, making that a robot stops when it detects a person in its surroundings. This plant, that received an investment of US$1.3 billion, will occupy an area of 70,000 square meters and will generate 3,800 jobs.

Boehringer to invest in their plants in Mexico

The German drug maker Boehringer Ingelheim will invest US$23.9 million within the next five years, in the modernization and expansion of its two existing plants and the research and development center that the firm has in Mexico, said Miguel Salazar, President and CEO of the company to Mexico and Central America. Mr. Salazar explained that US$17.6 million will be invested in the Mexico City´s plant, where specialized drugs for asthma and diabetes are produced. Another US$6.6 million will be invested in the Jalisco´s plant for its expansion and the modernization of the research and development center, where 30 biotech formulations for the treatment of some animals are manufactured.

Coahuila increases investments in 2015

In 2014, Coahuila managed to attract more than US$600 million of FDI, and it is expected that this year's figure reaches the US$700 million. During 2015, the State has generated about 30,000 jobs, so it is also expected to exceed the number of jobs created last year. Jose Antonio Gutierrez Jardón, Minister of Economic Development, Tourism and Competitiveness (SEDECT), said that 22,000 jobs have been created thanks to the promotional missions made during this administration. Mr. Gutierrez said that a Korean firm of the automotive industry, announced an investment of US$10 million that will generate 1,400 jobs in the region of La Laguna.

PPG inaugurates sustainable plant in Queretaro

PPG Industries of Mexico (paint manufacturer) inaugurated the expansion of its facilities in the municipality of San Juan del Rio, Queretaro. This expansion, denominated Proyecto Monarca, received an investment of US$27 million. The Company's expansion plan consists in the construction of four sustainable buildings, and the expansion of labs of development and quality control. In addition, 115 new jobs were created.

Mexico, in the Global Innovation Index

Mexico is positioned in the 57th place in the Global Innovation Index 2015, made by the University of Cornell, which means ranking nine places above compared to last year when the country ranked the 66th position. The Global Innovation Index is developed by the University of Cornell; the INSEAD business school and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). The study examines the effective innovation policies for the development that expose new methods that can be applied to encourage innovation and promote growth.

Manufacturing employment shows increase

According to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), the personnel of the manufacturing sector increased by 3.2% during July 2015, compared to the same period in 2014, which totaled 65 months with increases at an annual rate. The manufacturing of transportation equipment registered the largest increment in jobs, with an increase of 6.8%; followed by the manufacturing of computer equipment, communication, measurement and other type of equipment, electronic components and accessories, with an up to 5.6% increase.
